4 Common Skincare Mistakes

Having clear and smooth skin isn’t something that everyone can say that they have. It seems like no matter which website or magazine you turn to there are a million different DIY skin mask recipes, conflicting information about what you should and shouldn’t do, and products that you are allegedly absolutely obligated to have.

Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated, however. For some people, great skin is just in their genes. For others, no matter what kind of efforts they put in they can’t seem to get rid of acne or dryness. Here are some of the biggest mistakes that people make with their skin which can lead to problems.

Using Drugstore Foundation

Foundation is something that goes deep into the pores of your skin and sits on your skin for 8-12 hours a day. Therefore, if you are using a cheap product with harsh chemicals and undesirable products inside which makes your skin flare up, you are going to have less than desirable results.

You should always try to buy high-quality foundation which is suited for your skin type. If there is one thing that you are going to buy in your makeup kit which is expensive, make it the foundation. The rest you can manage to get by cutting prices on, however, don’t mess around with your skin!

Exfoliating Too Much

Some people think that exfoliating every time that they wash their face or take a shower is what they are supposed to do. However, each time you exfoliate you are tearing away micro layers of skin and scrubbing harshly against your pores.

Doing this occasionally is something that can do good things for clearing out blackheads and clogged pores, however excessively exfoliating makes your skin irritated and exposed to irritation. Since you are scraping it down, it is more susceptible to infection and irritation.

Using The Wrong Moisturizer

Moisturizer is something that varies from person to person. If you have naturally oily skin you will want to make sure that you are using something on the lighter side. If you are using a heavy oil based moisturizer on skin that is already plenty equipped with natural oils you are going to find that it starts to break out from excess oil.

The same goes for extremely dry skin. You want to make sure that you are using a moisturizer on the heavier side rather than something suited for oily skin types.

Not Washing Your Face At Night

Many people make the mistake of going to bed with all of the grease and oils on their face that they have built up over the course of the day. This is problematic and can cause breakouts and skin imperfections. You should really find clean skincare products to start washing your face at night. It is crucial to wash your face before hitting the sack so that your skin has a fresh slate and a chance to breathe while you sleep.
