HEALTHY READING

healthy reading
Everywhere you look, it’s all about healthy food choices. Courgetti over pasta, no sugar diets – fast food is out and over the past few months consumers are turning towards the green and the wholesome. This has been an ongoing shift over the last few years, a more health conscious community who want to educate themselves in regards to what they eat. What really is healthy food and what is the best thing I can eat to fuel my body? Am I really making the most sensible choices I can?

Everywhere you look, it’s all about healthy food choices. Courgetti over pasta, no sugar diets – fast food is out and over the past few months consumers are turning towards the green and the wholesome. This has been an ongoing shift over the last few years, a more health conscious community who want to educate themselves in regards to what they eat. What really is healthy food and what is the best thing I can eat to fuel my body? Am I really making the most sensible choices I can?

Hearing people pick spelt over white pasta or buckwheat over refined grains made me what to educate my mind. It’s easy to assume we know what the most healthy choice is but with bundles of salt, sugar and nasties hiding where we would never look to think – it’s important that you create a heathy mind in order to curate a healthy body. To kickstart my education I went on a book spree. Stocking up on recipes, knowledge and the scientific facts – it’s time to get learning!

Initially I was lucky enough to receive everyones favourite – Deliciously Ella – from my mum for Easter. Flicking through the pages to see vibrant greens, golden yellows and fiery reds only heightened my desire to find out more. To Amazon I went! Here I ordered Sarah Wilsons’ I Quit Sugar,  Amelia Freer’s Eat. Nourish. Glow and Cameron Diaz’s The Body Book. Brimming with all the information and food smarts to help kick start a different way of thinking I dug in.

So far I’ve got my head into Cameron Diaz’s Body book. Boy is this good! The most scientific of the bunch this delves into the depths of micro and macro nutrients so you really know what your food contains and where to get those juicy nutrients from. Learning about your habits, pattern of eating and what gets you hooked is fascinating and I encourage everyone to stock up on educational books to enhance your healthy mind. Coconut nectar over sugar? Go on then 😉
